Join the Los Altos Community Foundation (LACF) and the Los Altos Neutra House Project committee as it celebrates the official grand opening of the recently renovated Los Altos Neutra House with "L.A. Modern" Evening Celebration, held in Los Altos at an elegant modern home, "L.A. Modern" Home Tour, a one-day tour showcasing contemporary modern homes located in Los Altos, California, and Neutra House Celebration, a panel discussion featuring Dion Neutra and other experts. Architectural Forum Panel participants and biographies.

"L.A. MODERN" EVENING CELEBRATION

The tour will kick-off with a "L.A. Modern Evening" that will be held in Los Altos at an elegant modern home on Friday, October 24, 2008 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Tickets are $150 per person and includes admittance to the Friday, October 24, EVENING CELEBRATION, the Saturday, October 25, L.A. MODERN TOUR and the NEUTRA HOUSE CELEBRATION described below.
$130 per ticket is a gift to the Neutra House Fund.

"L.A. MODERN" HOME TOUR and NEUTRA HOUSE CELEBRATION

The tour will feature five contemporary modern homes that reflect the branch of Modernist architecture known as "California Modern." This architecture typically features glass walls, post-and-beam construction and open floor plans in a style indebted to Richard Neutra, Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Joseph Eichler's many architects. The Los Altos homes on this tour will highlight the integration of this architectural style with the many facets of the Bay Area lifestyle.

Tickets are $40 per person and includes admittance to the Saturday, October 25, L.A. MODERN TOUR and the NEUTRA HOUSE CELEBRATION (see below). Addresses and Maps will be available after registration.
The full amount is a donation. Tour tickets will also be sold at the Neutra House on the day of the event (Neutra House map).

Grand opening event and panel discussion featuring Dion Neutra and other experts

The grand opening tour day activities will begin with an informative panel discussion on Neutra and his influence on Bay Area architecture at the newly renovated Los Altos Neutra House. The panel will feature Dion Neutra, an accomplished architect and son of Richard Neutra. Architectural Forum Panel participants and biographies. The tour will follow from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Reservations are not required for the panel discussion, but space is limited.

All proceeds of the tour will benefit the Los Altos Neutra House Project Fund in care of LACF to help offset costs incurred during the renovation of the house.
